After much measuring and discussing we come up with a solution. We move the house over about 25 feet and angle it slightly more to the east. That’s as far as we can move it without giving up any of the garden space. It means the veranda will be but up against the garden, the house won’t face due south and the solar panels can’t be moved to the south side of the house.
Our plan was to place the solar panels on the veranda roof on the south side of the house. Instead, we will place the panels on the shop/garge roof. Not ideal, as in Manitoba the panels need to swept off after snow storms. The higher up they are, the more difficult that becomes. Our plan is to build a scaffolding up to the panels so you can easily climb up to sweep them off. In the meantime, we will try out a long handled plastic roof rake and see how that works. On the plus side, with the house moving further away front the garage, we shouldn’t have any shadows on the panels to worry about and they will be out view.
The hi-ho is back, this time during the week so I don’t get to view the progress. But the hole is dry and when I arrive for the weekend, we have a pit.
